What can we say? White Birch Manor is quite simply a stunningly beautiful Grade 2* listed manor house set in 7 acres of formal garden, orchards and meadow, with wide ranging views over the River Severn and the Forest of Dean.

Dating from the medieval period, the house has survived much over the years and the history of this house is evidenced everywhere you look, with ancient stone roof tiles, wattle and daub plaster walls, original flagstones, softened with wear, and a plethora of exposed Tudor wooden beams. There are elegant, varnished oak panels, inglenook fireplaces and cross-beam ceilings, 16th century wall paintings in the bedrooms, decorated fireplaces and even a hidden door behind a bookcase!

Full of character, history and undeniable charm, the walls most certainly have some tales to tell. For those of you who love a bit of romance, folklore even has it that King Henry II may have been a frequent visitor, meeting for secret trysts with his mistress, the ‘Fair Rosamund’!

Symon & Ruth

We are Symon and Ruth, and we are lucky enough to call White Birch Manor our home. As a result we are incredibly house proud and are only happy if it is as good as we would expect it for ourselves – actually, no that’s not right – it has got to be better!

Symon is the most incredible Chef, and it never ceases to amaze me how passionate he is about something that has been in his life for as long as he can remember. Having spent the last 10 years running an incredibly successful event catering business he knows exactly what is required to be the best of the best and certainly has been there and got the t-shirt, well, Chef’s apron anyway!

As for me, my background has been more varied as mum of 4 amazing daughters (hard work but very proud of the young women they have become), a primary school teaching assistant (loved it!), and currently in HR, marketing, accounts, administrator, all under the guise of Office Manager (as a result, I can now organise anything for anyone!).

All I know is that together we make a very special team, and can guarantee without hesitation that our enthusiasm and passion will shine through into every detail.
